Scottish Canal Volunteers ~ Helmsmen & Canal Maintenance
Description | Our volunteers have access to 2 dedicated boats, one called "Lochrin" which operates between the Forth & Clyde and Union canal. They have many uses, from litter picking to vegetation management. Working Crew and Helmsmen are required to keep these boats operating on canal maintenance. |
Location | Forth & Clyde and Union Canal |
Task | Based on a workboat you will assist Scottish Canals with general maintenance of both canals. From vegetation clearance to painting structures to crewing the boat, there is a job for every ability. |
Time Commitment | Having a flexible approach to time management is key. We would prefer people who can commit ling term due to the nature of this project: We are happy to discuss this further with you. |
Why Volunteer with Scottish Canals | Being custodians of the canal is an important job. Here at Scottish Canals we take pride in our work and want you to be a big part of it, together we can help maintain 200 years of history. You will also become part of our family where every day is a school day and no challenge is too big.
