Pat Bowie

Pat Bowie has been a central figure in Re-Union Canal Boats for well over 10 years. This dynamic social enterprise operates around Edinburgh on the Union Canal and at Falkirk on the Forth & Clyde Canal.

Pat is the driving force behind the hugely successful Edinburgh Canal Festival, helped safeguard the Lowland Canal hire boat business and is passionate about providing volunteering opportunities to canalside communities that improve health and wellbeing. So much more than the MD of an important social enterprise, Pat has championed volunteering on the Lowland Canals, working with the LCVG to transform Scottish Canals’ approach to volunteering and introduce a community-led programme of work that reconnecting the canal corridor with its volunteering roots right across the community. Pat continues her good work as Chair of the newly-formed Lowland Canal Action Group, which is setting a new course to harness partnership working between senior management at Scottish Canals and the third sector
