Scottish Canal Volunteer Engagement Award

To be eligible for selection as the Scottish Canals Volunteer Engagement Award, the nominated contractor, individual or team must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • The Nominee must be employed by Scottish Canals on a full time, part time or seasonal basis, or be a contractor appointed by Scottish Canals, working on the canal system
  • The Nominee must demonstrate a commitment to volunteers and the volunteer activity facilitated by Scottish Canals.
  • The nominee should actively promote volunteering within their organisation or team to departments within Scottish Canals and promote Scottish Canal Volunteering within the communities.
  • The Nominee must support and mentor volunteers engaged in activities on the canal.
  • Nominators must demonstrate their candidate’s commitment to Volunteers engaged in Scotland’s canal network
  • The deadline for all nominations for the Scottish Canals Volunteer Engagement Award is Friday 25th September 2020 @ 7:00pm. We regret that entries received after this deadline cannot be considered.

Guidance Notes:

  • All nominations must be submitted to Scottish Canals Volunteer Awards 2020 using the on-line nomination form or by email submission in accordance with the following email guidelines.
  • The Scottish Canals Volunteer Engagement Award will be awarded annually
  • Organisations / Contractors may submit an application for consideration by the judging panel
  • No self-nominations are permitted from individuals; such nominations must be submitted on behalf of another person who is not a member of the nominator’s immediate family
  • The nominator must provide the contact information, including email address and telephone number of the nominee for the Scottish Canals Volunteer Engagement Award.
  • The nominated candidate will be required to support a media release and photo opportunity should they, he or she be selected for a short list or as the eventual winner.
  • The judge’s decision will be final

Email Submission Guidelines

In addition to the above guidance notes, email submissions should follow the email submission guidelines ....

  • The nominator must provide their contact information, including email address and telephone number
  • The nominator must provide the contact information, including email address and telephone number of the nominee for the Scottish Canals Volunteer Engagement Award.
  • Entries should include a short (500 word max) text submission explaining why the nominee should be considered for the Scottish Canals Volunteer Engagement Award.
  • A maximum of three images may be attached to the email submission to demonstrate why the nominee warrants consideration.
  • Emails received after the above stated deadline cannot be considered.
